  Pi is the boy's name and it has nothing to do with the mahacmatietl pi. Although there may have been a small discussion about the correlation in the book, it is not hugely relevant. Pi is short for his full name, Piscine Molitor Patel (he is named after a swimming pool). He changes it to Pi when he begins secondary school, because he is tired of being taunted with the nickname, Pissing Patel ( Piscine sounds like Pissing ).I have not been paying much attention to hype these days and I was surprised to see that it was even being made into a movie.   Awesome music topped off with an incomprehensible story, no plot, and poor acting!!! What more could you want in a movie?!

  I would have preferred the NON-3D movie, couldn't make it to the earlier one. Tired of these 3D movies, not worth the extra bucks in my opinion..! The movie was okay, some good funny parts, I LOVE Grute. However I did find the movie a little too long, was getting restless near the end, wondering where they were going with the storyline. I don't think it's good for kids, a little too long for them to have to sit still, and a few scarier parts for the real little kids. I wouldn't pay to see it twice.
