Jay Kelly (George Clooney) is a famous, successful movie star whose best memories are from working on his movies. After completing one film, he has a few days to relax at home, where he tries to bond with his youngest daughter, Daisy. Daisy, now 18, just wants to hang with her friends and is planning to leave for Europe with them on the weekend. Jay's other daughter, Jessica, wants nothing to do with her father because he was mostly absent while she was growing up.
With the next movie scheduled to begin shooting on Monday, Jay convinces his devoted manager, Ron (Adam Sandler), and other members of his entourage to leave for Europe in his private jet to track down Daisy and surprise her. With families of their own, Ron and the others are stressed, but they reluctantly agree to join him.
Along the way, both men confront the choices they've made, relationships with loved ones, and the legacies they'll leave behind.
