The New Romantic Synopsis
College student Blake Conway (Jessica Barden) writes a sex column for her school’s newspaper, which her editor decides to cut unless she’s able to make it more exciting. Unfortunately for Blake, her personal life is equally as boring and she’s unsatisfied with the men her age who she feels are no longer romantic. Just when all seems hopeless, her classmate Morgan (Camila Mendes) introduces Blake to the world of being a “sugar baby,” which has earned her thousands of dollars worth of gifts, simply for keeping lonely, rich, older men company.Blake embarks on a sugar baby arrangement with lonely economics professor Ian (Timm Sharp), exchanging dates for lavish gifts and documenting her experiences in her column. As her writing proves a hit among readers, she grows even closer to Ian and discovers it’s not so easy to differentiate between love and what essentially boils down to a business relationship.
