Itzhak Synopsis

Born in 1945 to Polish parents in Tel Aviv, young Itzhak Perlman had to overcome many obstacles (including polio) before becoming a world-renowned violinist. His appearance as a child sensation at age 13 on the prestigious "Ed Sullivan Show" in 1958 launched a career punctuated by great popular successes, both in film, playing the theme for the Oscar-winning movie "Schindler’s List," and for adoring audiences around the world. At 80 years old, Perlman is still an intelligent and vibrant man. Director Alison Chernick follows him in his daily activities, in rehearsal and on tour, accompanied by his wife Toby, a sunny, empathetic presence who has shared his life for over 50 years, and his good friends, among whom he counts actor Alan Alda and former President Barack Obama, both of whom appear in the film.
